Project Description

This corpus includes data from six Dutch children of a MA research carried out at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, department of General Linguistics, by Gea Pool, under supervision of Gerard Bol in 2006. All children are male and are diagnosed as having a Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS).

The children's chronological age ranges from 6;02 to 7;06. The focus of the research has been the production of echolalia, pronouns, lexical diversity and form-class distribution of the lexicon in the spontaneous speech of the children. The children are educated at a school for children with special needs.

The spontaneous speech of the children has been audio taped at their school, while they were having a conversation with the investigator, who is also a qualified speech therapist, about everyday occurrences, e.g. school and hobby’s of the child. From each child all analyzable utterances were transcribed by the investigator. The children are identified by first names (pseudonyms). For further information see the table below.
